Extended Forecast Model Update into Early April

This is my interpretation of what the latest ECMWF long-range forecast model shows into the first week of April.

The model continues to show a slowly weakening blocking pattern over northeastern Canada late in the month followed by a flip in the pattern which could mean a real turn to spring across eastern Canada and the eastern U.S. as we go into the new month. In the meantime, there will be some brief spells of milder weather, but winter certainly has not left the building yet.

Happy Birthday to my daughter Camryn!

It's hard to believe it has already been 5 years since she was unexpectedly born 6.5 weeks premature at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind. My wife was in Indianapolis at the time to watch the Big Ten Basketball Tournament while I was back at home in Pennsylvania and nearly 500 miles away. By the way, she was cleared by the doctor to make the trip. A 20-inch blizzard that night across Ohio prevented me from driving out that evening, so I had to wait until morning and fly out, missing the delivery by over 10 hours. We were very lucky, Camryn weighed 4 lbs. 13oz. at birth and was extremely well cared for at the hospital for four weeks.

Today, Camryn is a thriving 5-year old who can't wait to start kindergarten in September. She is active in dancing, gymnastics and recently learned to ski for the first time in Canada at Mt. St. Louis Moonstone.
