Light at the End of Winter's Tunnel

By Elliot Abrams, AccuWeather chief meteorologist

Thursday morning

Here is today's video. Important issues as we approach the weekend include the extent of ice in the western Carolinas - Virginia area late tonight and tomorrow morning and constantly checking the accuracy of saying the storm's precipitation stays east of a line from Philadelphia to Boston (or adjusting the forecast if that idea starts looking to be wrong).

In the early to middle part of next week, there could be a hint of spring in the region from Illinois to New Jersey. This is a forecast map for next Tuesday morning. The average rain-snow line is midway between the last blue dashed line and the first red dashed line, and.... is that a daring daffodil??? If the map's portrayal turns out to be correct, temperature could break past 50 degrees in much of that area. The warmup will not be permanent, but you have to start somewhere.
