Black sand beach appears on Hawaiian island

Hawaii has a new black sand beach. MNN reports the Kilauea eruptions of 2018 created a new beach after it left ash in the air, lava in the ocean, and destroyed more than 700 houses. Isaac Kepo'okalani Hale Beach Park, also known as Pohoiki, re-opened to the public last month, after being closed for nearly 170 days due to lava.
