A potent clipper storm will pass to the north of Chicago on Friday and Friday night with the main impacts being caused byhigh winds that can lead to sporadic power outages. An even stronger and much larger storm will bear down on the Midwest later this weekend, and the Chicago metro area stands to pick up accumulating snow and strong winds with plunging temperatures from the storm from later Sunday to Monday morning. Should the storm shift its track a bit to the southeast, the city and suburbs may end up in the heart of a blizzard with a foot or more of snow. At this time, enough snow to make roads slippery and to plow is forecast with 2-4 inches in the city. Heavier amounts are likely to the northwest. Major travel disruptions are likely from Sunday night to Monday on the roads and at the airports.
