An ongoing winter storm shutdown travel and has the potential to be the biggest storm in years for the Baltimore area. Snow will continue, heavy at times into Sunday night. A total of 6-10 inches is forecast, even with sleet and freezing rain mixing in. A foot or more is anticipated well north and west of the city with lower amounts farther south in Maryland. Streets and highways will be snow packed and slippery for a time even after the storm departs. Frigid air following the storm will result in little or no natural melting for a few days.
