A storm will gather a vast zone of snow and ice over the south-central United States Friday. During the weekend, around the same time Arctic air moves in, snow is forecast to overspread the Baltimore area Saturday afternoon and continue at varying rates into Sunday. There is the potential for a heavy accumulation of snow, with widespread travel problems. Little to no natural melting is likely during and following the storm.
