A storm will gather a vast zone of snow and ice over the south-central United States Friday. During the weekend, around the same time Arctic air moves in, snow is forecast to overspread the Philadelphia area Saturday night and continue at varying rates into Sunday night. There is the likelihood for a heavy accumulation of snow, with widespread travel problems. Sleet and freezing rain may mix in south and east of the city for a time. Travel conditions will deteriorate Saturday night and are likely to be difficult to impossible on Sunday.
