The Keukenhof
The Keukenhof, one of the world’s largest gardens, is located southwest of Amsterdam. It’s only open from mid-March to mid-May, which is the best time to see a variety of brightly colored tulips. They showcase winding paths of historical gardens with bulbous plants, hyacinths, daffodils, roses, and lilies. Since the Keukenhof is an outdoor garden that covers almost 80 acres of land, be sure to check the weather forecast before visiting.

Japan’s Cherry Blossom Festival
One of the best places to see cherry blossoms is at the traditional cherry blossom festival in Japan. Known as Hanami, cherry blossom festivals are held in a variety of different locations in Japan. Unlike the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC, cherry blossom trees in Japan flower at different times. Hanami means “viewing flowers” but is generally specified for cherry blossom viewing. This tradition has been around for generations.
Portland Rose Festival
Lloyd Center hosts its annual spring rose show every year. This is the longest-running rose show in the nation and showcases over 4,000 blooms. Anyone can enter, and there are approximately 6,000 spectators that come from all over the country. First started by Mrs. Henry Pittock in 1889, the Portland Rose Festival has around 800 members. Rose pruning demonstrations and advice are provided for anyone that wants to learn more about the gardening process.
Canada Blooms
Canada Blooms is Canada’s largest flower show. The show supports several garden-related projects that have been built all over Ontario. The Flower and Garden Festival takes place in early March and features a stunning display of bright colors and sophisticated horticulture designs. With over 25 gardens available to survey, top garden designers have created a living masterpiece of gorgeous spring flowers. Not only do they offer landscaped garden tours, but they also provide a look into what flowers can do to improve the aesthetics in a small space. There are five balcony gardens displayed for those who want to know exactly what you can do with an 8”x10” space.

New Zealand Flower and Garden Show
The New Zealand Flower and Garden Show celebrates modern floral design in December. These spring flowers are showcased over five days. Floral art installations and sculptures, award-winning garden exhibits, and carefully nourished and pruned flowers are all available to see. In addition to the stunning visuals, industry professionals also participate in the New Zealand Flower and Garden Show. Sculptures and flowers are only part of what this show has to offer.
Hampton Court Flower Show
Hidcote Manor and Blenheim Palace are some of the infamous estates in England. Tours of private gardens can be arranged for the afternoon or evening. The flower show is held in early July and is one of the largest in the world. The competition for best garden earns gold, silver-gilt, silver and bronze medal prizes. Although this is an outdoor show, tickets must be bought in advance.

Giverny Monet’s Garden
Monet’s Garden in Giverny, France is exceptionally beautiful in the spring. With private guided tours, you can see the two parts of Monet’s garden that are said to complement each other perfectly. On one side of the land there are flower beds with different volumes and sized flowers. Fruit trees and climbing roses bring a jungle-like, disorganized quality to this area. The best place to see water lilies is in the water garden. This area is a must-see for anyone who enjoys art. Wisteria-covered bridges and weeping willows are just some of this what this spring beauty has to offer.
Desert Botanical Garden
The Desert Botanical Garden is located in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1939, local citizens decided to conserve part of their desert environment by creating the gardens. In 1983, The American Association of Museums accredited the gardens. It now hosts 186 known species and varieties found in the Genus Agave. This is the most prominent collection in the United States. Unlike many other gardens, a number of species from the cactus family are also present. Because of Arizona’s unique climate, this has some of the most versatile spring flowers available.
