Severe thunderstorms deliver flooding, tornadoes to Argentina, Uruguay
By Maura Kelly, AccuWeather meteorologist

The severe weather that spread across Argentina at the end of the weekend continued to move northward into the start of the week.
A storm system that organized over southern parts of the continent on Sunday continued to produce severe weather through Monday night.
As thunderstorms produced downpours across parts of Argentina on Sunday, at least one storm in the Córdoba Province spun up a tornado.
As the center of the storm moved off the coast of Argentina on Monday, it pulled in more moisture, enhancing rainfall.

The same system dumped over 65 mm (2.6 inches) of rain on both Concordia and Rosario, Argentina on Monday afternoon and evening.
Cordoba, Argentina reported wind gusts of 65 km/h (40 mph) late on Monday.

The same front that brought the severe weather was still dumping rain on parts of southern Brazil and far north-eastern Argentina into southern Paraguay on Tuesday morning.
Throughout Tuesday, the strongest energy, and most of the severe weather will push out over the Atlantic. However, periods of heavier rain can persist into far southern Brazil and Paraguay into the afternoon. A few places may also see some gusty winds to 65 km/h (40 mph).
This area of southern Brazil has been hit hard by heavy rains so far this month. Several locations across Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina have reported flooding in recent weeks.
