Deadly storm leaves half a million without power in Poland, Baltics
More than half a million people are without power across Poland and the Baltic states after a deadly storm swept through the area, killing two people on Saturday.

Aug. 23 (UPI) -- More than half a million people are without power across Poland and the Baltic states after a deadly storm swept through the area, killing two people on Saturday.
One person died in northern Lithuania and another in central Latvia, where meteorological data shows this storm was the "most devastating to hit the country since 2005," TVP Worldreported.
As of Sunday, power outages are affecting 254,000 people in Latvia, 256,000 in Lithuania, 18,000 people in Poland and 3,400 in Estonia.
Fire officials in Latvia said two people were injured in a building collapse in Jelgava, Xinhua reported. Rescue services received more than 1,000 calls related to wind damage there.
In Lithuania, where firefighters received more than 1,200 storm-related calls, one woman was injured.
Heavy rains continued to batter Estonia into Sunday morning. Officials there said rainfall could reach 90 millimeters over 24 hours in some areas, Xinhua reported.
Some 145,000 people lost power across northeastern Poland throughout Saturday, TVP World reported. As of Sunday, some 18,000 people were still affected.
Firefighters across northern Poland responded to some 850 calls throughout Saturday, and reported three people were injured by falling trees.
