With just 45 days to go, the AccuWeather 45-Day Forecast gives the most detailed picture of what is to come for the biggest holiday of the year

AccuWeather Global Weather Center – November 11, 2014 – AccuWeather, Inc., the global leader in weather information and digital media, is the only source for the unique 45-day Forecast which allows users to begin to monitor their local forecasts for Christmas starting today. The AccuWeather 45-Day Forecast goes beyond historical averages to give people detailed and localized forecasts reaching further than any other free weather source, all the way to the biggest holiday of the year.

“AccuWeather’s 45-Day Forecast is a response to what our audience wants -- to have a better idea of what is going to happen with the weather further out than they would otherwise have and that is why we do it,” Dr. Joel N. Myers, Founder, President and Chairman of AccuWeather, Inc. said. “We have a great history as innovators in the science of meteorology and we go beyond available historical averages and computer models, using proprietary algorithms, highly sophisticated computer models, unmatched meteorological expertise, and techniques that we have refined over the last 52 years to create highly detailed, local forecasts that users can check throughout the season to get the best and longest reaching local forecasts.”

Just 45 days before Christmas, forecasts for the top ten US metropolitan areas (by population*), including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Miami, Atlanta, and Boston are all calling for lower than average temperatures, particularly in Washington, DC, Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta. Users should keep checking back on AccuWeather.com for more detailed information as the big holiday approaches.

In 2013, AccuWeather introduced the first-of-its-kind 45-Day Forecast to help keep the public informed of weather events such as cold snaps or snow storms well beyond the scope of other free forecasts. The forecast, available free on Accuweather.com web and mobile web sites, provides the public with the most comprehensive weather information available to plan ahead for events up to a month and a half in the future.

By navigating to the extended forecast on their local weather page and selecting “All 45 Days” on AccuWeather.com, users can view detailed forecast information including temperature, sky conditions, precipitation chance, UV index, and more. This information keeps the public abreast of future oncoming local weather events to help them plan ahead.

“AccuWeather gives people the ability to track their weather forecast from as far out as 45-days to the time they get on the road with our exclusive MinuteCast® minute-by-minute forecast,” Myers said. “The most informed users will keep checking with our web and mobile web sites, since the forecast will evolve and become more detailed and specific as the date and time approaches. As a result, people can be prepared to make the best decisions on everything from travel to what to wear and have the best possible experience on the biggest US holiday of the year.”

AccuWeather MinuteCast is the unique, patent-based minute-by-minute precipitation forecast for users' exact street addresses or GPS locations.
