...INCREASED FIRE DANGER IN EFFECT WEDNESDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 6 PM... Although recent rains have led to some increased soil moisture, abnormally dry conditions are still present over portions of the Piedmont. The combination of low relative humidity dropping into the 30 to 35 percent range with gusty southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, an Increased Fire Danger statement has been issued for the Piedmont. This is in effect for Wednesday from 11 am to 6 pm. These weather conditions will result in elevated fire potential and a threat of adverse fire behavior. Please consult your local burn permitting authorities as to whether burning is allowed for Wednesday. If you must burn, use extreme caution, as fires can spread rapidly under these conditions.
