River levels have risen following recent rainfall. As a result, flooding is possible today, Friday 19th December 2025 and overnight. Locations most affected will be riverside footpaths and low-lying land in York and to the south as far as Naburn Lock, including Kings Staith, Queens Staith, and South Esplanade. Levels are expected to begin falling overnight into Saturday. We are monitoring the forecast and river levels and liaising with emergency services and local authorities. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Consider acting on your flood plan if you have one. This message will be updated by 8:00PM on Friday 19th December 2025, or as the situation changes.
