...POTENTIAL HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG WINDS FOR PORTIONS OF SE ALASKA FOR THE END OF THE WEEK... Portions of the Alaska Panhandle will be impacted by two separate systems this week. Locations that will be impacted the most are the Northern and Central Inner Channels along with the Eastern Gulf Coast. The first front on Thursday will bring heaviest rain fall to the NE Gulf Coast before advancing to the south and east through the night. Rainfall amounts of around 1 to 2 inches are expected from this system. After a short lull on Friday the second stronger low moves up from the North Pacific by Friday evening tracking along the Panhandle coast towards the NE Gulf Coast into early Saturday. This system will likely bring more heavy rain and stronger winds with additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible and wind gusts of around 40 mph. The heavy rain will cause rivers to rise Thursday into Saturday. Residents should stay tuned to forecast updates and be prepared.
