...POTENTIAL HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG WINDS FOR SE ALASKA FOR THE END OF THE WEEK... The Alaska Panhandle will be impacted by two separate systems this week. The first front on Thursday will bring heaviest rain fall to the NE Gulf Coast before advancing to the south and east through the night. Rainfall amounts of around 1 to 1.5 inches are expected from this system. After a short lull on Friday the second stronger low moves up from the North Pacific by Friday evening crossing over the region into early Saturday. This system will likely bring more heavy rain and stronger winds to some communities. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are likely with higher gusts also possible. Exact timing and track of this low are still uncertain. Residents should stay tuned to forecast updates and be prepared.
