...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM AKST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Long duration snowfall continues. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches through Friday night. Wind gusts up to 30 mph. * WHERE...Klondike Highway, North of Milepost 10. * WHEN...Until 9 PM AKST Friday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Main concern is a long duration of heavy rates around 0.25 to 0.50 inch per hour continuing through Friday for the upper elevations of the Klondike Highway. Continued strong southerly winds around 15 mph bring the potential for some drifting snow near White Pass with wind gusts up to 30 mph limiting visibilities. However, this southerly push lowers forecast confidence in accumulating snow through the daytime hours at lower elevations of the Klondike Highway and Skagway. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. People are urged to prepare their property before the onset of winter weather.
