Corrected minor typo. ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CHST THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet. * WHERE...North and east facing reefs of Kosrae. North facing reefs of Pohnpei. * WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A long period northerly swell emanating from a distant weather system combined with a large northeast trade swell continue to produce hazardous surf conditions for Pohnpei and Kosrae. Buoy data near Pohnpei and Kosrae show the northerly swell is slowly decreasing but the northeast swell is still elevated. Model guidance supports that the north swell will subside slightly and then rebuild Saturday night or Sunday as another pulse is generated by a system east of Japan, with the primary northeast swell staying elevated. While surf may briefly drop below hazardous levels of 9 feet along north facing reefs (Pohnpei & Kosrae) and 8 feet along east facing reefs (Kosrae) Friday night and Saturday, high surf is expected to return Saturday night or Sunday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. &&
