The foremost pioneer in meteorological business applications discussed a period of global Transformative Innovation that will make forecasts more accurate, localized, forward-looking, and relevant to serve the public and the economy
AccuWeather Global Weather Center – January 13, 2015 — Dr. Joel N. Myers, Founder, President, and Chairman of AccuWeather, Inc., the global leader in weather information and digital media, was invited to present the Keynote speech at the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Third Symposium on the Weather and Climate Enterprise. In his presentation "Transforming the Weather Enterprise", Dr. Myers, one of the true pioneers in the business and science of meteorology, noted that we have entered an extraordinary age of Transformative Innovation where changes are accelerating and occurring faster than ever before and explained what they will mean for the user and the Weather Enterprise as a whole.
“We are on the threshold of a time of accelerated change, presenting opportunities for Transformative Innovations. If we identify and effectively address them, they will enable us to make forecasts even more accurate, localized, forward-looking, and relevant,” Dr. Myers said. “The availability of these forecasts enable us to serve the public and our economy more effectively, further reducing the loss of human life while increasing prosperity.”
In his keynote speech, Dr. Myers calls on government, the academic and research sector, and the weather industry to work together to address and capitalize on rapid changes. Budgetary and financial pressures, an exponential increase in data, new consumer dynamics, emerging health and climate challenges, and emerging technologies represent new challenges and opportunities that are best met by the combined strengths of the American Weather Enterprise.
“We have learned to work together in a true American spirit of cooperation and partnership,” Dr. Myers said. “There is no question that we have made much progress and the American public and business have benefitted. We need to continue to accelerate movement in this direction.”
