...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Very cold temperatures as low as 40 to 50 below zero. * WHERE...Copper River Basin. * WHEN...Until 4 PM AKST Friday. * IMPACTS...Dangerously cold temperatures as low as 40 to 50 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The arrival of winds across much of the Copper River Basin has caused temperatures to rise above zero for much of the area. Temperatures across the southeastern basin, roughly from Chitina to McCarthy remain well below zero. As we head through early next week, the general trend will be for winds to diminish and temperatures to ultimately drop back down to 40 below zero by Monday or Tuesday.
