Rain and strong winds expected Wednesday.
A low pressure system developing near the Great Lakes will intensify as it moves across New England Wednesday night and into western Labrador on Thursday and eventually out to sea late in the week.
Light snow or freezing rain will develop over western and central Newfoundland early Wednesday morning and spread to the Great Northern Peninsula by afternoon. This precipitation will then quickly change to rain.
Over southern Newfoundland, the rain will begin Wednesday morning and spread to eastern regions by afternoon. The rain will become heavy at times along the southwest coast on Wednesday evening with the potential to produce significant rainfall amounts.
In addition, a Wreckhouse wind warning is in effect for tonight and Wednesday. Wind warnings are in effect for Wednesday for areas of western Newfoundland prone to enhanced downslope winds.
Conditions are expected to improve late overnight Wednesday or Thursday morning.
