River and Lake levels remain high due to recent rainfall. Scattered showers are expected today, Monday 8th December 2025. These showers may be heavy at times. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers Brathay, Rothay, Winster and other watercourses from Grasmere to Grange-over-Sands including low lying areas around Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge, Windermere, Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Backbarrow, Cark and Cartmel. We continue to monitor the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 5:00PM on Monday 8th December 2025 or as the situation changes.
