Total snowfall: 20 to 30 cm, with locally higher amounts possible in the vicinity of Bay of Exploits. Maximum wind gusts: northeasterly 70 to 90 km/h shifting to northwesterly 110 to 130 km/h. Time span: overnight tonight until Tuesday morning. Similar storms in the past have caused: - school closures and cancellations of community activities - disruptions to public services - delays or cancellations of ferry services - utility outages Remarks: Strong winds accompanying the snow will cause poor and at times near-zero visibility in blowing snow. Intense northwesterly winds will develop late Monday evening and persist until early Tuesday morning, causing hazardous winter conditions. Roads and walkways will likely be very difficult to navigate. Secure outdoor Christmas decorations and other objects that could be lifted by strong winds. Take steps to be prepared for utility outages.
