Total snow accumulations between 5 and 8 inches across much of the area...with higher amounts of 9 to 12 inches along and north of a Macomb to Bloomington line. In addition, winds will occasionally gust as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Portions of central and west central Illinois. * WHEN...Until 6 AM CST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Occasional whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
