Little rain expected to dampen final days of play at Wimbledon

Odd showers may dampen play at Wimbledon on Friday and Saturday, but the prospect of rain delays will be minimal.

Any shower that moves through Wimbledon these days will be brief and only dampen a small fraction of play.

Otherwise, sunny intervals and seasonably warm conditions will prevail. A gusty breeze is also expected on Friday.

Temperatures will climb daily to around 24 C (75 F).

Despite dangerous heat being absent, players and fans will still need to protect themselves against the strong July sun.

"Fans in open seating areas will want to make sure to have hats, sunglasses and sun cream," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Bill Deger.

The risk for an odd shower will wane by Sunday's final day of play. The day will be partly sunny with a high once again near 24 C (75 F).

New this year at Wimbledon is a retractable roof at No. 1 Court, which will allow play to continue in the event of harsh weather conditions such as rain, wind and heat.
