Sunshine is now in control and will lead to a warming trend for the first half of this week.

A typical early October afternoon normally features highs in the lower 80s with a low of 60 degrees to follow at night.

Sunday morning, temperatures bottomed out at 50 degrees but temperatures Monday rose back into the 80s.

Highs in the mid-80s to follow for the rest of the week. Abundant sunshine will prevail through Thursday.

While rain is needed to ease the ongoing drought, the dry weather will be welcome by those wanting to attend the State Fair of Texas.

This weekend is when the next chance for meaningful rain will return.
