A slow-moving storm system will continue to produce heavy rainfall across northeastern Spain and southern France through Tuesday.
Flooding occurred in some areas as rainfall totaled 75-150 millimeters (3-6 inches) from near Barcelona Spain to Agde, France, through midday Monday, local time.
Extreme rainfall occurred in Montpellier, France where 300 millimeters (11.79 inches) fell, the majority falling in three hours. This is nearly half the average annual rainfall of 630 millimeters (24.80 inches).
The storm system responsible for this heavy rain and thunderstorms will continue to sit over the region into Tuesday leading to additional rounds of rain that may flooding over the same areas.
Additional rainfall of 25-75 millimeters (1-3 inches) will be common with localized amounts up to 150 millimeters (6 inches).
By Wednesday, this storm will shift northeast into the Alps where localized flooding will remain a threat.
Spotty showers and thunderstorms will linger in northeastern Spain and southern France from Wednesday to Friday, but no widespread flooding threat is expected.
