A powerful storm system will bring rounds of rain, thunderstorms and strong winds to areas from the Iberian Peninsula through much of France into Sunday night.

Heavy rain will bring the risk for flooding while also causing poor visibility and travel disruptions.

Another round of heavy rain will then target northwestern Spain and northern Portugal into Sunday night.

Total rainfall of 75-150 mm (3-6 inches) is expected in northwestern Spain and far northern Portugal with an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 300 mm (12 inches).

This rainfall will produce stream and urban flooding and may result in road closures and mudslides.

Strong winds will accompany the heavy rainfall, causing additional travel problems.

Gusty winds of 30-40 mph (50-65 km/h) will continue from northern Spain into France into Sunday night.

Aside from some lingering showers on Monday, a period of more tranquil and dry weather is forecast across western Europe during the first half of this week. This will allow for any recovery efforts to occur without any interruptions.
