Snow, difficult travel to threaten Four Corners states into Tuesday

A storm will unleash heavy snowfall from Arizona to Colorado and New Mexico into Tuesday.
Snowfall began ramping up on Sunday night across northern Arizona, with a portion of Interstate 40 forced to close due to an accident.
Flagstaff, Arizona, has received their biggest snowfall from a single storm yet this season, with close to 14 inches of snow.
Accumulating snow and slippery travel can occur as far south as central portions of New Mexico into Tuesday.
Snow totals on the order of 1-2 feet are expected across the Rocky Mountains in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico.
The I-25 corridor from Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colorado, to Raton and Las Vegas, New Mexico, is expected to be severely impacted by snow, gusty winds and difficult travel into Tuesday.
Travel is expected to be dangerous and nearly impossible across the Four Corners region during the height of the storm as visibility is reduced from blowing and drifting snow and roads become snow packed. Road closures are possible.
Anyone on the roadways will run the risk of becoming stranded.

Those out shoveling or playing in the snow across Colorado and northern New Mexico will need to be thoroughly bundled up, with highs only in the teens and 20s F and even lower AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures.
Children may get another day off from school due to the treacherous conditions following the Presidents Day holiday.
While the heaviest snow will stay to the south of the Denver metro area, the city can receive a slippery coating to an inch of snow into Tuesday.
Albuquerque, New Mexico, may be whitened by just enough snow, around a coating to an inch or two, to create slick roads and sidewalks for the Tuesday morning commute.

The storm, with its accompanying snow, will spread through the central and eastern U.S. Tuesday night into Thursday, with flooding rainfall in the South and snow and ice to the north.
