San Francisco: Rain May Arrive Late Week

A bit of relief is possible from the California drought late this week in the San Francisco area.

On Wednesday afternoon and evening, Blue Canyon, Ca., received more than an inch of rain. It was the area's first rainfall since last November.

San Francisco may experience a shower or two on Thursday. If it does rain, it will be the first measurable precipitation in the region since Jan. 8.

Only 0.01 of an inch of precipitation has fallen in San Francisco as of Jan. 1, putting the city on pace for its driest January on record.

Otherwise, Thursday will have highs in the upper 50s with overnight temperatures dropping into the mid-40s.

It will turn cooler Friday and Saturday with daytime highs falliing back into the upper 50s.

Flights originating from or heading to parts of the Southeastern states could be delayed or cancelled through midweek due to a large storm producing snow and ice in the region.
