A heavy snowstorm brought over half of a foot of snow to some locations across the Plains Tuesday through Wednesday morning.

An NWS observer in Sioux Falls, S.D., recording 6.2 inches of snow for the city, with 5.7 of that falling just on Nov. 5. This breaks the previous snow record for the date of 1.5 inches, set in 1959.

Monticello, Minn., received 4.5 inches of snow accumulation. Just outside of Pipestone, Minn., an NWS-trained spotter reported 10 inches of snow builddup.

Roadways for much of the area remained slick into Wednesday, including parts of I-90, I-29 and I-94.
