Photos: Snow blankets parts of the northeastern United States
The northeastern United States endured gusty winds, plummeting temperatures and snow this weekend.
After first reaching the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes on Saturday, the chill swept to the Atlantic coast on Saturday night.
"This light snow came in with a weak storm coming across the Great Lakes and pushing off the mid-Atlantic coastline Sunday morning," AccuWeather Meteorologist Alan Reppert said.
The snow initially melted on the warm pavement, but as temperatures tumbled, snow began to stick.

"Most of the snow was in higher elevations in the mid-Atlantic and through the northern Great Lakes Saturday night behind the cold front that pushed through," Reppert said.
The majority of areas only saw snow in the air as it melted as it landed on the ground, or at most a light accumulation on grassy surfaces, according to Reppert.
