Temperatures will be on the rise on Sunday as warmth from the Southwest sneaks up the coast.
For the month of May, the high temperatures in the Northwest have been on the rise.
The month started off near normal, but before the weekend is over, temperatures will be approaching record numbers.
The warming for the second half of the weekend will likely bring the city of Seattle to its first 80-degree day of the year. Yesterday's high was 77 degrees.
On Saturday, the city of Portland, Ore., had its first 80-plus-degree day, officially reaching a high of 83 degrees. The expected maximum temperature on Sunday is in the mid-80s.
The unseasonably warm temperatures are expected to continue throughout the start of the workweek on Monday. Temperatures again are expected in the low to middle 80s.
However, a storm looks to bring cooler temperatures to the region on Tuesday. Still, temperatures will at least be 5 degrees above average for the middle of May.
