The cool and wet weather that has plagued much of the United Kingdom this month will continue this week.

A slowly moving cold front will bring wet weather to the U.K. into Thursday night.

Rain that spread into Northern Ireland and Scotland on Wednesday shifted into Wales and Northern England Wednesday night.

This rain will then expand into the Midlands and parts of Southern England on Thursday.

Temperatures will fall several degrees on Thursday as cooler air spreads into Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Farther east, temperatures will remain seasonable with highs reaching 16-20 C (60-68 F)

While the heaviest rain is expected to remain to the west of London, conditions will deteriorate late in the afternoon and evening.

The arrival of this rainfall may result in a slower evening commute across Greater London; however, no flooding is expected.

Showers will continue to be a threat across Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern England on Friday, while cool and dry weather is expected elsewhere across the country.

A shift toward milder weather is expected this weekend, but the threat for a shower or two will accompany the milder air throughout the country.
