Update at 5:30 a.m. CDT Saturday:

This blog is no longer live as storms weaken Saturday morning. Stay tuned to AccuWeather.com for more updates as storms restrengthen Saturday afternoon.

A large complex of thunderstorms stretching from the Texas Panhandle through eastern Nebraska is producing widespread damaging winds and flooding downpours.

"These storms will continue racing eastward through the Plains into Saturday," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Brian Edwards said.

Residents from Topeka, Kansas, through Springfield, Missouri, need to keep an eye on the weather through the overnight hours.

The thunderstorms will then track into Missouri on Saturday with yet another cluster set to erupt across the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma later on Saturday. Cities in the path of the severe and drenching thunderstorms tonight include Denver, Wichita and Dodge City, Kansas and Amarillo, Texas. The storms will also graze Oklahoma City.
