Late Week to Feel More Like November in Harrisburg

By By Kristina Pydynowski, senior meteorologist

Despite a rebound in temperatures on Monday, a late-week Novemberlike chill is headed to Harrisburg.

High pressure promoted plenty of sunshine over Harrisburg and mild afternoon temperatures on Monday.

The passage of a shower on Tuesday will signal that a dramatic change is on the way.

That change will come via cold air from Canada, which will begin to work its way into the Northeast on Wednesday, holding high temperatures to the middle 50s that day.

The chill that follows for Thursday and Friday will create daytime highs in the upper 40s with nighttime lows approaching the freezing mark. AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures will be even colder as brisk winds blow.

Despite the near freezing overnight lows, there will likely be too much wind and clouds for frost to develop.

The first snowflakes of the season are also headed to the Appalachians this week and will remain west of Harrisburg. Anyone traveling westward on Rt. 322 has the opportunity to see these snowflakes as they approach State College.

There are signs that even colder air, accompanied by gusty winds, will reach the city around the end of the month.
