A moderate earthquake shook the Los Angeles area Monday morning at 6:25 a.m. PST.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake measured a 4.4 magnitude with the epicenter 6 miles to the northwest of Beverly Hills, Calif.
The strength of the quake was capable of producing strong shaking and minor damage in the Encino, Calif., area. Some people may have noticed light shaking as far away as Oxnard, Lancaster, Los Angeles and Long Beach, Calif.
While the month of March started on a wet note in Southern California, dry weather has prevailed since and parched conditions are likely to continue through the week.
