At least 50 dead after plane crashes upon landing at Nepal airport
A passenger plane carrying at least 67 people crashed Monday and burst into flames as it landed at an airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, killing at least 50 people, according to the Associated Press.
The US-Bangla aircraft reportedly veered off the runway at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) before catching fire, according to BBC News.
The plane, which had departed from Bangladesh, appeared to be broken into several pieces as fire crews and responders worked to control the blaze and rescue passengers, according to the AP.

The fire sent a thick cloud of dark, heavy smoke into the sky above Kathmandu, the AP reported.
Thunder was reported in the area near the airport at 4:20 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, (shortly after 5 p.m. local time) according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Eric Leister. After showers move through the area during the early evening, it will dry out by Monday night, he added.
"Dry and sunny weather will follow on Tuesday," Leister said.
