A quieter week coming up, storm risk focuses on the Plains late week

The severe weather will take a break for the most part this week. High pressure will build in from the north leading to a cooler and more-stable regime for most of the South this week. The exception will be in parts of Texas and Central and South Florida, where a stationary front will keep it wet. That's good for Florida because it's been dry there and the severe weather risk is low. Back in Texas, there will be some severe storms to deal with across the south and west. The quieter spell will come to an end in the Plains later this week when we see a storm come out of the West and start to generate a severe storm risk again. The risk for storms will push east next weekend.
