Detroit: Storms Could Threaten Holiday Weekend

By By Katy Galimberti, AccuWeather.com Staff Writer

Detroit will have a turbulent stretch of sun and intermittent thunderstorms for the next several days, including storms that could impact Labor Day weekend plans.

After periods of warmer conditions early in the week, temperatures will fall back into the 70s at midweek before pulling into the 80s towards the weekend.

Night skies should be partly cloudy into the late part of the week.

Storms will roll into the region on Friday and linger during the holiday weekend, possibly creating hazards for those with outdoor plans.

Overnight skies starting Saturday will continue the daytime storms and remain humid. Lows are expected to be in the mid-60s.

Conditions could vastly improve in time for Labor Day itself as Monday should feature a cloudy but dry day. The high is expected to be near the 80 F mark.

Those attending the Detroit Jazz Festival over the weekend would be wise to pack an umbrella and have plans in place in case storms strike. At the first sign of thunder or lightning, seek indoor shelter.
