The remains of Manuel are moving into Texas and, as you can see on the HRRR image below, heavy rains will occur and flash flooding will be the big issue. The heavy rains will spread all the way into western Tennessee and into Louisiana through Saturday. Some areas can see over 5 inches of rain. I do think the remnants of Manuel will remain a trackable feature, but do not agree with the models trying to develop a storm out of the remains over the western Gulf of Mexico.
The other issue across Texas might be tornadoes today. Sometimes these systems produce severe storms and tornadoes due to the circulation center remaining intact.

Storm is coming up the coast but will only skirt New England. Heat follows into the East.
Florida gets drenched and the same storm skirts New England
The same storm that produces severe weather will produce a major storm this weekend.
The stormy weather pattern today will turn into a chilly blocking pattern this weekend.
