Hail and damaging winds today… Outbreak of severe weather this weekend
Severe storms will develop across parts of Missouri into Arkansas this afternoon and last into tonight. The impact of the storms will be mainly large hail and damaging wind gusts. Little Rock, Memphis and St. Louis are within that zone. I went with the heavy storms because dew points remain very marginal like we saw yesterday.
This weekend, a major storm developing in the Plains will spawn a multi-day severe weather outbreak starting Saturday and lasting into Monday, perhaps even beyond. The impacts of the storms this weekend will be tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail.
If tornadoes do occur this weekend, it would appear that Sunday would the day across parts of Oklahoma and northern Texas. That's where the left front quad of the jet streak will meet the highest dew points and the low-level jet.
