Below is an image of the of the ECMWF snowfall through the next 10 days. What this illustrates is the trend toward a stormy weather pattern for next week. This week, it's a cold and dry pattern with only light snow events, but next week with the first storm busting through the West coast with welcome rains that will move across the country to bring snow and severe weather into the East. We will see a warm-up coming north but it will be cut off right along the I-80 corridor. Snow on the north side of that storm later Sunday into Tuesday could be heavy just north of the cold front. I can see over a foot of snow for some areas.
The cold weather will continue into well into March before we see a turnaround... at least we hope.

Storm is coming up the coast but will only skirt New England. Heat follows into the East.
Florida gets drenched and the same storm skirts New England
The same storm that produces severe weather will produce a major storm this weekend.
The stormy weather pattern today will turn into a chilly blocking pattern this weekend.
