Northeast Warmth to Last Through Friday
Tuesday morning
In 1938, a devastating hurricane ripped through eastern New England. In November, Providence, Rhode Island, had a record high of 74 on Nov. 7. However, a record low of 12 was reached on Nov. 25, and it was 10 the next morning. Whenever it gets warm in November, many of us worry that we'll have to "pay for this" sometime later.
However, maybe we have already paid. The last two winters were snowy and cold from Chicago to Boston. In most years with strong El Ninos, temperatures for the winter average higher than usual. As for snow, the record is mixed in El Nino years. A lot depends on where cold air is as storms move through. For now, we see dry weather for the next few days. And after a cooldown for the weekend, it appears there will be a warm up for at least part of next week. This map shows the upper air flow forecast for a week from today.

With this flow, air reaching Maryland come from northern Mexico.
