Vandals target Jewish family in Steele Creek area

A Jewish family living in the Savannah Townhomes in the Steele Creek area has had enough of the vandalism targeting them, and so have police.

"We do know these types of words and symbols are not exactly friendly or meaning to do anyone good. We have taken steps to increase our presence and increase our safety out there."

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police stepping up patrols in and around the complex after three separate incidents now classified as hate crimes. The first was a swastika on the back door of their home.

The second time, the words "see you" were on one of the family's home windows. The third time, the words "white power" were written at the townhomes common area gym where a member of the same Jewish family discovered it and called police. Investigators want to put an end to this

"Stop, it's unnecessary. We have some of the best detectives in the country. We're going to pull out every stop we can to discover who did this and hold them fully accountable for doing such things."

FOX 46 charlotte spoke with the family after the first incident. You can see the man of the home cleaning off the symbol and foul images vandals put on their property.

When we reached out after the latest string of incidents, the family provided us with this statement: "We just want this person, whoever it is, to say hey, you know what. I'm sorry."

The family is stepping up security at their home, and they're even considering moving out their community while police search for the person or persons responsible.
