Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster in 18 counties in central and south Texas on Tuesday, Oct. 16, as severe flooding hit the state. This video shows the swell on the Llano River in Kingsland, Texas, just before a bridge collapsed. The swells created a phenomenon known as ‘standing waves.’ This happens whenever two waves of identical frequency interfere with one another while traveling opposite directions along the same medium.
