Man put in evaluation after making Facebook post threatening Oroville schools

Oroville, Calif - A man has been taken for medical evaluation in Fresno after making threatening posts on social media about starting a massacre in Oroville schools.

According to the Oroville Police Department, they received several calls at around 8:30 a.m., Sunday about Oroville residents concerned over some statements on social media.

Police will not release the name of the man who made those comments, but according to the Facebook post the man is named as “Michael Ewald,” from Fresno.

Officials reviewed the violent comments and began an investigation into the incident.

Oroville Police then contacted Fresno Police where they went to the man’s residence and was taken for a medical evaluation.

Due to the violent comments made from the post, the Oroville Police Department will have additional police on duty, Monday to ensure the safety of children and school staff.

Police do not believe that parents should keep their children from attending school in the coming days.
