Temps on their way down this week!

Cooler air will work its way back into Northern California as we head into the second to last week of August. We should be able to squeeze at least 2-3 days out of the forecast without 100° temps. Highs should fall around 5-7° from what we saw over the weekend. The coolest temps in the forecast will come Tuesday and Wednesday. Hazy skies will persist as smoke from Oregon wildfires is pushed into our neck of the woods. Smoke may inhibit eclipse viewing for areas North of Redding.

The cooler air mass will bring a little moisture with it as well as provide some instability in the higher levels of the atmosphere. Afternoon and evening showers and storms are a possibility from Monday through Wednesday.

Don't forget about Monday's eclipse! It will begin around 9 in the morning, peak near 10:15, and end around 11:30 am. Chico will see 83% of the sun obscured, and Redding will see 87% of the sun obscured.

So far the forecast for eclipse viewing is solid! Not too hot and shouldn't see much in terms of cloud cover! Make sure you've got your solar glasses for safe viewing!
