We've all heard of a New Year's baby, right?
Well how about something even more rare? A baby born during the solar eclipse.
Action News Now reporter Darren Leeds went to Enloe Hospital to speak with the only family in the Chico area to have their baby born during the time of the eclipse.
The solar eclipse only lasted for a few hours, but one Chico couple received a gift that will last forever.
Travis and Briannah Anthony welcomed their new baby girl into the world, Alyssa Claire Anthony, about 30 minutes before the peak of the eclipse.
Anthony says, "This was actually her due date today, so we thought the opposite that she would not come on her due date, but she is clearly very punctual. So yeah, she chose to come on her due date so we're excited."
When I asked the couple how it felt to have the only baby in the area born during the eclipse, they said...
Anthony says, "I'm not going to lie, yeah it's kind of fun."
The Anthony family said they already had a name in mind for their new baby, but the nurses at Enloe tried to suggest an eclipse related name.
Anthony says, "They did tell us when we had her that we should put her middle name as Luna just to go with it, but we had already put out Claire. We put it out on the internet already so once it happens on Facebook it's official so we couldn't go back on it."
This is the couple's fourth child, giving them two boys and two girls, making their family a little more evened out.
Anthony says, "We've got our other kiddos and they're excited and eager to help and just adding her to the family. We couldn't be happier."
The Anthony's also told me that August 22nd marks their four year anniversary being together and two years of marriage.
Now the month of August will hold even more significance for them.More
