The mystery of neon green water on the Mississippi River has been solved.
People in Chalmette, Louisiana were concerned after videos showing what looked to be neon green water began surfacing Wednesday.
Residents wanted to know what possible chemicals could be leaking into their drinking water.
Officials want the public to know it's simply food coloring.
According to the St. Bernard Parish Office of Homeland Security, the Chalmette refinery built a new tank and needed to test it for leaks.
They used a green food coloring that is non-toxic and not harmful to wildlife.
Officials say the green color will work its way out of the water in a couple of days.More
