St. Paul police are investigating after a possible explosive device was discovered in a car near Maryland Avenue and Lane Place Saturday morning.
A 911 caller reported two men with guns threatening to shoot a woman at a Super America gas station at 7th Street E. and Johnson Parkway in St. Paul just before 5:00 a.m. Saturday, according to police.
Police found two handguns inside the car and a pipe bomb in the trunk after conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle in question, according to Steve Linders with the St. Paul Police. The bomb squad disposed of the device safely and nobody was hurt as a result of the incident.
38-year-old Fredric Pittman III and 40-year-old Monttraill Claiborne were both arrested under suspicion of possessing both a stolen firearm and explosive device and booked into the Ramsey County Jail.
The FBI is also assisting in the ongoing investigation.More
